The
first place to stop when selecting a natural stone slab for your
countertop is Granite and Quartz Countertops located conveniently in
Petoskey, MI. With hundreds of samples and remnants of natural stone
along with a selection of full size slabs in stock our expert staff can
help you begin your selection process. Their knowledge and experience
can open you to new choices that you might not have considered before
visiting our showroom. As they understand your desires, budget, and
project they will help you narrow your choices so you can make the most
of your visit to one of our suppliers.
Why Am I Going To A Stone Supplier?
Natural stone has numerous and random variations of which are not often apparent when viewing small handheld samples. It is also difficult to grasp the visual depth, veining and color variations that become evident while viewing the entire slab.
There are other naturally occurring phenomena you will want to familiarize yourself with before you notice them in your countertops: pitting, fissures, spidery fractures or small quartzite deposits that are inherent of the natural stone. Some of these characteristics may be avoided during the fabrication process. All granites are a product of Mother Nature and the characteristics inherent in them add to the beauty of the natural stone.
What Should I Bring With Me?
Go prepared with Granite & Quartz Countertops' name and the amount of material you will need to tag. Take samples of flooring, tile and paint, as well as cabinet samples to compare with the stone. The more you can bring, the easier your selection process will be. If these items are not available, the supplier can often provide you with samples to take home. Please do not take your children! For their safety, children under 16 are not allowed in the slab warehouses.
When Should I Go There?
Your
countertops cannot be fabricated until the end of your construction
project, after the cabinets are installed. Choosing specific slabs
months in advance can be risky. Coloration and veining can vary
dramatically from shipment to shipment. We suggest you wait until 2-3
weeks before your cabinets are delivered, unless suggested otherwise by
the fabricator.
How Many Suppliers Should I Visit?
The quality of the material is comparable from one supplier to another because most material, regardless of where it is quarried, is processed in Italy. If, however, you are dissatisfied with the color variation or veining, you may find something different at another supplier. Materials cut from different locations within a given quarry or from different regional quarries may exhibit slightly different characteristics.
I Made A Selection, Now What?
We have accounts with several suppliers. You may reserve slabs on our account. It is vital that you inform Granite & Quartz Countertops that you have made a selection and record the serial numbers of the slabs you have chosen. We will then review the job and update the order with the supplier.
Please
notify us if there are any unique characteristics of a slab, such as
color variations or a particular mineral deposit that you would like
included or excluded from the job. We can review your request(s) and
comment on their feasibility. An additional visit to our factory at the
time of cutting may be required to facilitate this request.
